CERQUEIRA DE SOUSA, Maria Jose, was born in Lisbon in 1956 and graduated in Fine Arts - Painting from College of Fine Arts of Lisbon (ESBAL) in 1979.
She began her professional life as Professor of Painting and Drawing at in schools, public and private and has participated in several Painting Exhibition, collective and individual. Her vast work, produced over more than 35 years of work, is spread out for numerous private collections in Portugal, Spain and Austria.

Maria José CERQUEIRA DE SOUSA nasceu em Lisboa, em 1956 e Licenciou-se em Artes Plásticas – Pintura pela Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa (ESBAL), em 1979.
Iniciou a sua vida profissional como Professora de Desenho em várias Escolas, públicas e privadas, tendo participado em diversos Concursos de Pintura e Exposições, colectivas e individuais.
