Who doesn't love the famous Polaroids? This series of Polaroids that I created in 2021 using digital techniques brought back memories of the various cameras I bought at the time, fascinated by the result of having the images developed instantly. Simply brilliant. For me, Polaroids were more than photographs. They were a fantastic design object, with their white frame and the framed image. I collected many of them and kept them all in boxes as if they were jewelry. Even with the ones that didn't come out the way I wanted, I still found them all beautiful, with abstract, expressionist, surrealist results, etc. In some of the Polaroids in this series, I purposely worked to obtain faded, grainy and blurry images, just like when I photographed with my original cameras.
Although it is so easy to take photographs today with cell phones, digital cameras and even with more modern versions of Polaroid cameras, nothing compares to waiting for an image to be developed right away along with that sound of the button clicking like in the original Polaroids. It was just a matter of waiting to see the result inside the matte white, semi-glossy frame. That wasn't just a photograph, it was art. And for me it still is to this day.

Quem ainda não adora as famosas Polaroids? Esta série de Polaroids que criei em 2021 utilizando técnicas digitais me trouxe na memória as várias máquinas que comprei na época, fascinado pelo resultado de ter as imagens reveladas instantaneamente. Simplesmente brilhante. Para mim, as Polaroids eram mais do que fotografias. Era um objeto de design fantástico, com a sua moldura branca e com a imagem emoldurada. Colecionava muitas delas e guardava todas em caixas como se fossem joias. Mesmo com aquelas que não saiam como eu queria mesmo assim achava todas lindas lindas com resultados abstratos, expressionistas, surrealistas, etc. Em algumas Polaroids desta minha série eu trabalhei propositadamente para obter imagens desbotadas, granuladas e desfocadas, tal como quando fotografava com as minhas câmaras originais.
Apesar de ser tão fácil tirar fotografias hoje em dia com celulares, camaras digitais e até mesmo com versões mais modernas de câmeras Polaroids, nada se compara a esperar uma imagem ser revelada na hora junto com aquele som do click do botão como nas Polaroids originais. Era só esperar para ver o resultado dentro da moldura branca fosca meio brilhante. Aquilo não era só uma fotografia era arte. E para mim ainda são até hoje.
