Acryl

Verf met traditionele pigmenten gemengd met synthetische harsen.

Olie

Verf bestaande uit pigmenten gebonden met lijnolie of anjers. De traditionele techniek bestaat uit het op elkaar leggen van verflagen die steeds rijker worden aan olie voor een stevige en duurzame hanger.

Schilderij Pastel

Pastel is een instrument dat veel wordt gebruikt in de beeldende kunst. Het heeft de vorm van een gekleurde plastic stick en is samengesteld uit pigmenten, een vulmiddel (krijt of gips) en een bindmiddel (arabische gom, olie, was). We onderscheiden voornamelijk vette pastels (olie of was), droge pastels, zacht of hard. Uitgevonden in Europa aan het einde van de 15e eeuw, werd dit instrument zeer snel gebruikt door grote portretschilders van Franse royalty's, zoals Charles Le Brun, Rosalba Carriera, Jean Siméon Chardin of Maurice Quentin de La Tour, die zal worden beschouwd als de " Prince of pastellists", dankzij een fixatiemethode waarvan alleen hij het geheim kende.

Pastel

Tekening gemaakt met een gekleurde stok. Het bestaat uit pigmenten, een lading en een bindmiddel. Er wordt onderscheid gemaakt tussen droge pastels (zacht of hard) en vettige pastels (olie of was).

Karnish is an established contemporary Artist producing mesmerizing and vibrantly colorful abstract artworks. She lives on a farm nestled at the foothills of the Magaliesberg Mountains, South Africa.

Since a very young age, Karnish would draw, sketch pad in hand, somewhere outside – enjoying solitude and peace while doing what she loves best. This naturally progressed to her becoming a full-time artist. The works are now held by private collectors and in collections throughout Europe, North- and South America, Asia, Australia, and Africa.

Guided by inner inspiration, she freely employs bold use of exciting color, intimating forms, and shapes, playing with suggestion, carrying various elements and emotions. Predominantly working in acrylics, she also applies pastel, oil, collage, spray-paint and other mediums to convey the energy of that piece. Living purposefully, expressing pure magic, seeing the joy in people appreciating art, brings tremendous satisfaction and great humility.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Her mission is to tell the untold stories on canvas - transferring aliveness, vibrancy, sunshine, hope and joy or a deep reflective message. It is that which brings us to the spirit of UBUNTU – “I am because we are”. Throughout the process she connects to the subtle and harmonious elegance of timelessness, the philosophical essence of the minuscule and majestic, the movement and dance of life, reflecting on care, conservation, upliftment, enthusiasm and abundance, to create bold and soulful artworks.
