Kari Feuer grew up in the Pacific Northwest, playing in the woods and streams and establishing a love of the outdoors.  She lived and painted outdoors for many years in the Hudson Valley of New York and has now relocated to coastal North Carolina, where the skies, beaches and marshes appear in her paintings.  They are often abstract, and the color and mark-making suggest both a mood in the landscape and movement through it. She is known for her vibrant color palette, though there is usually a foundation of black, which stands for our ambivalence about the natural world.

She rejected art as a major in college because she couldn't paint in nature, (which is what drew her to painting in the beginning), so she is self-directed in her painting education, with a background as an entrepreneur in a few design businesses.
