Inspired by the Emerald Table

In this work entitled The Fragmented Emerald, Ju Iglesias seems to have opened the Emerald Table and made a forgotten light, codified in shapes and colours, spring from it. The painting becomes a visual transmutation of the famous hermetic maxim

The burst fragments, with the dominant shades of green, yellow and gold, represent the shards of a universal truth that has been broken, scattered in the material world. The artist captures this moment suspended between the disintegration of Unity and the reconstruction of the Spirit. These pieces, like a broken stained glass window of an inner temple, seek to regain their sacred alignment.

The omnipresent black background symbolises the nigredo, the first phase of the alchemical work: the decomposition necessary before any rebirth. It is the shadow from which the light arises, the matrix of chaos from which order must be born.

Each coloured strip, each angular structure, evokes a ray of knowledge crossing matter - the secret fire of the wise, the one that "rises from the earth to the sky and descends back into the earth", according to the Emerald Table. Iglesias thus traces the circulation of Sulphur and Mercury, the alchemical game between the fixed and the volatile, the mind and the flesh.

The omnipresent green is not innocent: it is the green of the Emerald, the stone of truth, the one that Hermes Trismegiste would have engraved with his eternal laws. This green becomes here the common thread of an inner quest, the reflection of a world that seeks to remember its divine nature.

The Fragmented Emerald is not just a visual abstraction. It is a hermetic door, a card for those who know how to see. Iglesias invites the viewer to rebuild the Unity hidden behind the apparent.
