My name is Jos Eijken. I have been drawing and painting my whole life. As a young boy, I would stare at paintings by Rembrandt in a book my parents owned. But art is rarely the direction you follow in life. That's why I became a graphic designer in 2001, after graduating from the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Painting and its development remained on the back burner for a while. However, when I started working as a freelance designer after 14 years, I picked up the brushes again during breaks between projects. A while later, I became a finalist in a national competition. This was the turning point that prompted me to radically change my life. I developed at a rapid pace. Since then, I've worked as an artist whenever I can. I paint everything that occupies my mind: still lifes, women, nature, and I no longer shy away from abstraction, but realism is still the dominant style. I will continue to do this until I can no longer hold a brush.
