These digital works are created completely on the computer. the main thrust examines the nature of nature in the evolving biological and technological landscape. The unpredictable results of my investigations reflect a kind of randomness that is inherent in both scientific research and the natural processes. The resulting menagerie can be interpreted as expressions of evolutionary propositions; prototypes of hybrid generative systems influenced by man-made technologies. Their function and feasibility question accepted distinctions between flora and fauna; blurring the line between that which we perceive as artificial and that which we perceive as natural.
The technique:
My process in the construction of hypothetical specimens and environments involve an interplay between analysis and invention. The process employed is an open-ended pursuit similar to automatic drawing, where one makes a mark and then responds to that. The ability to run variable scenarios quickly in digital form makes experimentation in the computer environment much more advantageous in comparison to my older works, which was executed with oil paint.

Some works reference traditional imagery, while others are purely digital in nature. His interests are deeply rooted in the natural world and its inner workings. It is in this mindset that he explores the possibilities and intricacies of nature, seeking understanding of the patterns and systems, striving to reveal the beauty of its design. At times the resulting effort renders austere images, and at other times, playful whimsical propositions. Although part of him is still drawn to the traditional mediums, the digital workspace provides the chance to explore multiple permutations in real time that are unavailable with other mediums.
