艺术图片银行That is why I gave it the title ‘Whimsical White’, which I feel suits the abstract painting aesthetically and emotionally. ‘White’ because it is whitish to enlighten, giving a fresh awakening look. ‘Whimsical’ because it is derived from a whim, but also to let you fantasize a little. That is what it is for, to take the strain away.
For this abstract expressionistic painting, I started off with an imaginable inspiration that I carried on through psychic automatism, freeing me up. Nearly all painting is fun, but I find a lot of freedom when making this kind of work and I hope it relays onto the viewer.
To paint Whimsical White, I chose mixed media which is based on acrylic paint with some effective gesso and colour pigment powder. The stretched canvas I painted it on is gallery wrapped and 3.8cm thick which allowed me to paint it right around on all four sides in a pattern. In certain areas, it may jut out to about 4cm with some points of built up paint.
Looking at the added images, you will be able to see that the sides are purposely designed in a mottled fashion together with a customary pinstripe that is white for this piece for an elegant look.
The markings, details and signature are placed on the back of the painting to give a better experience when viewing without any distractions.
