Ivan Lenardic
Ivan Lenardic’ paintings, charged with abundance of substance, represent a true curriculum vitae in which life resounds sweepingly with its rules and contrasts; life in which join hands love and hate, compassion and indifference, aggression and peace, purity and licentiousness, dreaminess and sobriety, youth and old age, hope and death.
Painter’s works are impregnated by a specific atmosphere full of tension and dynamics. It seems as if an invisible flow of energy connected the painter’s work which is distinguished by a variety of motifs to a complete entirety. Despite the narrative as well as the creation of figures and settings with a touch of realism in author’s paintings, there is a constant occurrence of an irrational ingredient interlacing with surrealistic tendencies, with the insight in the man’s interior without being burdened either by strings of the reason or the prescribed standards. A tangible object or a figure in the painting often become a reflection of an idea or a subconscious experience, just as the author’s inclination to express himself in symbols often obscures the narrative scenery built on realistic or pop art bases.
Painter’s work contains another vital substance, i. e. his social involvement that occasionally suffuses the depth of his artistic narrative like a delicate echo. Furthermore, one should not overlook the presence of a poetic component in painter’s works since it can often soothe the potential sharpness of the painting’s basic conception.
The description of Lenardic’ work could not be complete without emphasising the role of potraying the space, as well as the author’s use of colouring when creating the basis of a painting. The space with its confinement and openness together with the profuse colouring and balanced use of light has a considerable influence on the mood as well as on the emotional and symbolic expressions of painter’s compositions.
