Jcosta is a mechanical engineer who graduated in 1972, specialized in industrial quality in Japan; as well as is a Fine Arts Experimental Artist, self-taught, who has always, somehow, been involved in the world of visual arts, at first as a collector and soon after as a self-taught artist. Also had a strong family influence, transmitted by his mother and sister. His mother, the ceramist Marina Costa, and his older sister, Elna Cypriano, director of the first fashion college in Brazil, both already deceased. As it were not enough, his nieces Aline Cypriano, ceramist, and Adriana Cypriano, a specialist in papers and fabrics, both with an art studio in full swing. During the engineering course, Jcosta began to understand the various and powerful faces of the light beams on people and objects that came to arouse his interest in photography.
In 2004, Jcosta in order to mitigate many internal tensions acquired by too much responsibility and overworking at the Ministry of Mines and Energy and in the Ministry of Science, Technology, and innovation, made one of the best decisions of life: decide to start painting. Therefore, under the guidance of the Brazilian artist, Master Lylian Lauper, from the Brasília Federal University, a brand-new world opened its doors and windows of joy. The beginning was basically oil painting on canvas, but full of moments of pure ecstasy that contrasted between the beauties of the search for the inspiration to be represented. The color, by reference, always very vibrant, and a representation of everyday life. Retired in 2013 after 41 years of professional experience in the areas of energy development and technological innovation. In 2016, Jcosta discovered the glasswork master, Dale Chihuly, which has become his current material of inspiration and passion.
Taking distance from the production of glass utilities and, with a reference line of great artists, elaborated tributes to Miró and Alfredo Volpi (famous flags). In 2019 he produced a series of allegories“Happy”, representing joyful moments such as the pleasant feeling of eating delicious ice cream or even a relaxing sleep. Also, “Happy” series represented several trips madden around the world, whether sleeping on the clouds or simply representing the hotel's room keys. In between travels, did a variety of works using glass-fusing art in wide and different themes.
