I create paintings in the technique of carving on acrylic. I coat the wood panel with layers of acrylic paint and then carve the picture.
This artwork was created by layering 53 layers of acrylic paint (2 colors). Carved by using linoleum knives. Front side diameter is almost 37 cm (14.57 in), 2.5 cm (1 in) frame. Weight 1.33 kg.
The painting is covered with matte varnish.

My name is Iuliia Belova. It all began with the desire to create something with my own hands and make beautiful things. In 2022, I started making paintings using the technique of carving on acrylic paint.
The base of the paintings is custom made framed plywood boards. I apply 40-100+ layers of acrylic construction paint of the several colors in a certain order on it, finally the top background layers. Preparing the layers takes up to 2 months. Next I use a linocut cutting tool. To create a picture, I need to carve the paint with a cutter to the depth of a certain layer to reveal the desired color. The result is a negative volume inside the plane of the painting. The shadows from the carved texture also add extra tones to the paint. This technique gives relief and is good for depicting feathers, fur, etc. textures.
To export paintings abroad I need to get a certificate for customs from an expert. This may take 1-2 weeks. Shipping from Russia to the USA can take about a month.
