Il simbolismo è un movimento artistico che riunisce molti artisti con approcci divergenti. Non unisce gli artisti sotto la stessa bandiera, ma li riunisce nella difesa di un pensiero comune. Gli artisti di questo movimento ritengono che l'arte debba rappresentare il mondo interiore, quello degli stati d'animo e delle emozioni dell'artista. Sono ispirati dalla poesia, dal mistero, dal romanticismo e dalla loro stessa sensibilità.
