Judit Fortelny ist eine österreichische Künstlerin mit finnischen Wurzeln. In ihren Arbeiten beschäftigt sie sich mit der Vielschichtigkeit von Zeit und Geschichte, mit der Vergänglichkeit der Natur und der Zerbrechlichkeit des Menschen: Welche kostbaren Momente verbergen sich hinter alten Fotografien die der Nachwelt hinterlassen werden? Wie wirkt die Vergänglichkeit und die Schönheit der Natur auf uns, wenn wir sie zweidimensional betrachten?
Die dabei entstandenen zarten und poetischen Bilder schaffen neue Wirklichkeiten und geben dem Betrachter die Möglichkeit Bekanntes neu zu assoziieren und in das eigene Unterbewusstsein abzutauchen. Mit ihren Bildern will sie uns einen Moment der Pause aus dem stressigen Alltag bieten und uns wieder für die Bewusstheit öffnen, dass wir alle ein Teil dieses ewigen Kreislaufes sind.
Indem sie sich in ihren Werken auf Aquarell, Papier und alte Erinnerungsstücke konzentriert, kreiert Judit Fortelny zarte und fragile Arbeiten, die von kleinen Kuriositätenboxen bis hin zu großformatigen Aquarellbildern reichen können. Sie lässt sich von dem Wunsch inspirieren, die Vielschichtigkeit von Zeit, Geschichte und die Vergänglichkeit der Natur zu erforschen. Themen gegensätzlicher Kräfte ziehen sich auch durch ihre Arbeit – Zerbrechlichkeit und Stärke, Schwere und Leichtigkeit, Vergänglichkeit und Beständigkeit.
