Heinz Wilhelm Katzenmeier wurde 1963 in Deutschland geboren. Heute lebt und arbeitet er in der Schweiz. Katzenmeier absolvierte ein Chemiestudium und seine Spezialgebiete sind Forschung und Innovation.
Mit dem Kunstschaffen begann Katzenmeier während seines Studiums und die ersten Werke entstanden in den 90er Jahren. Seine Arbeiten, inspiriert von Biologie, Chemie und moderner Physik, beinhalten oft aussergewöhnliche Materialien wie Metallpulver, Schwefel, Graphit sowie Interferenz- und Leuchtpigmente. In Kombination mit Wachs, Teer, Ink-Jet-, Aquarell- und Acrylfarben entstehen starke, ausdrucksgeladene, faszinierende, oft mystische Bildwelten, die viel Raum für Fantasie zulassen und den Betrachter eine verborgene Wirklichkeit erahnen lassen.
Neben der Kunst ist Schreiben Katzenmeiers zweite Leidenschaft. Mit Hole World realisierte er die lange gehegte Idee eines etwas anderen Science Thrillers. Und wie schon seine Kunst ist auch «Hole World» von Themen der modernen Physik inspiriert.
Katzenmeiers Bilder weisen eine klare Linie, einen klaren Charakter auf. Sie sind spannungsgeladen, ausdrucksstark, bisweilen mystisch. Jedes Bild spricht eine universelle Sprache. Der Blick wird auf das Wesentliche fokussiert. Spannung generieren seine Bilder oft aus Unverträglichkeiten verschiedener Materialien oder chemischen und physikalischen Reaktionen.
