François Carage è un artista completo, pittore e fotografo, il cui lavoro è segnato dalla ricerca della narrazione e della storia attraverso le sue immagini. Fin dalla tenera età ha iniziato a dipingere, per poi dedicarsi alla fotografia come allievo di Jean-Pierre Sudre all'ESSAG di Parigi. Ispirato dal lavoro di Dorothea Lange e Jean-Lou Sieff, è diventato un fotografo professionista, specializzandosi in still life e lavorando a importanti campagne pubblicitarie.
Allo stesso tempo, François Carage continua la sua attività di pittore e illustratore. Nel 1989 si trasferisce a Reunion Island come pittore-muraista, vincendo diversi concorsi tra cui quello per il museo Stella Matutina. La sua fama crebbe rapidamente, esponendo successivamente alla galleria Black Frame di Saint-Denis.
Dopo diversi anni di architettura e design d'interni, François Carage decide di fare il giro del mondo in barca a vela. Oggi vive e lavora a Saint-Leu, sull'isola di La Réunion. La sua ricerca di narrazione attraverso le sue opere è rimasta presente, e continua a cercare di raccontare una storia attraverso ciascuna delle sue immagini, fedele alle parole che una volta lo hanno toccato: "quello che mi piace nelle tue foto, è che ognuna di loro racconta un storia". Nato nel 1949, la sua carriera artistica è ricca e diversificata.
