Basar (1901-1990) was born in West Java, Indonesia. He was a panoramic painter, especially eastern one, consistently depicting the beauty of his country’s lands and sea scenes. He is one of the masters of painting quality and considered one of the best in his era. His unique naturalistic paintings have been well known inside and outside of Indonesia, in the painting auctions and exhibitions. Some foreign art literatures in Europe include the name of Basar.
He was also the teacher of the famous Indonesian painter, Affandi.
