What comes to your mind when you look at the painting “The Red Fish"?
What can you say?
Someone will start looking for the familiar, remembering what they once saw. A red fish, a girl on a fish, a flying fish, some states of flight, maybe water, appeasement, sexuality, femininity, and everything related to it... what is it all about?

Well, let's stop for a moment and see…

Here is a process: a girl goes to a store to buy some bread. And what do we see outside? She took a bag and went to get some bread. What happens inside? She sat on the red fish and flew for bread (potatoes, milk, anything...). What may seem banal on the outside may not be banal on the inside. A lot of women who saw this paying said, "Yes! Of course, that's how I go to the store for bread." This is true. The artist painted the truth. Why is it true? - none of them could explain.

Irina (Irene) Makarova was born in Moscow, Russia, and currently lives in London, UK.
Since 2005, she studied painting in the studio of the Russian artist Konstantin Kaufman. She graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute in 2008, and then she took an Art course at Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after Surikov. She joined the International Art Foundation in 2008. She prefers to work in oil and often uses open colours in her artwork.
Irina mostly creates expressive figurative art. The form and relationships between different forms and figures set a huge field of interpretation through different historical and mythological contexts. Irina's paintings are born in her inner world through observation and experience of the surrounding life.
Irina's art was influenced by the pictorial language of the Russian avant-garde of the early twentieth century and the work of German expressionists, as well as by Bosch, Giotto, El Greco, and Modigliani.
Irina has participated in more than 60 exhibitions in Russia and Europe. Her works are in private and public collections in England, Scotland, Russia, France, Italy, Spain, Finland, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.
