Hilde Nijs
In the oeuvre of Hilde Nijs we discover a mixture of symbols, the magical visual language of an invisible world, as well as organisms and objects that seemingly nothing have to do with each other, are nevertheless linked by their origin and development.
As the play of energy in which individual elements numerous forms are criss-crossing each other and certainly not without reason and logic. Those figures derive their legitimacy from a constant search of the soul, the ability to be the deepest essence etc.
They are like a story where individual interpretation is playing de leading part. Nijs populate her own universe with generally androgyn characters who symbolise the inner entity. Also they have a double meaning. In one hand the unify of the male and female aspects in themselves and In second hand the strength who arises, when this unify is positively used into the world. Her ultimate dream: the mental science, floated by constant moving waves, like a treasure of pictures of the subconscious, must lead to the reduction of the soul. This is only possible when male and female elements are in balance with each other. Then there is also harmony in the world.
“Whoever today does not improve his errors and does not reconsider his vision, will become never more malignant than yesterday”, a rule which we all must use, is the meaning of the artist. Then there is perhaps a chance that all peoples can live with each other in harmony like real citizens of the world. But that is probably an Utopia. Conclusion: Begin with yourself.

ART AND CLASSICAL MUSIC
But the absolutely first passions of Hilde Nijs are oilpainting on canvas, ceramic and mixed-media. Already on the young age of twelve years old she won a “national competition for painting” in ..Oostende...
her predilection go out to Chagall because of his wonderful colour palette and the way he populated his world. Also to Rembrandt for the contrast of claire-obscure. Also James Ensor, Salvador Dali, Picasso and Gaudi gets her preference. So finds Hilde Nijs her way as young student to the academy of art and she populated her own universe with generally androgyn characters which symbolise the inner entity. And they has a double meaning also. On the one side the unify of the male and female aspects in themselves and on the other side the strength which arises, using positively to the world. Her ultimate dream: the mental science, floated by constant moving waves, like a treasure of pictures of the subconscious, must lead to the reduction of the soul. This is only possible when male and female elements are in balance with each other. Then there is also harmony in the world.
“A work of art is always created from something. Out of my intellectual skills area, deeper feelings come to the surface. A huge inspiration and unbridled imagination - basic principles of many arts - they do the rest of the work."
Hilde Nijs her second passion is classical music. Also poetry, literature, and art-history, as inexhaustible source on her search to the ultimate, appears regular in her work.
She is president of ARTesMUSICA vzw., an association to promote Chamber Music and she promote also The Charlemagne Orchestra for Europe, the Orchestra from her very good friend Maestro Bartholomeus-Henri VAN de VELDE.
