Haykuhi Khachatryan
My name is Haykuhi Khachatryan and I am a contemporary impressionistic fine art painter. I live and work in Dilijan, Armenia. My interest in painting dates back to my early years of childhood when i was deeply obsessed with the vibrant spirit and mystery of the Armenian nature. Over time the imaginary reflections of those picturesque landscapes - earth, sky, clouds, mountains, water and flowers were brought into life with contrasting and harmonious colors and bold compositions.
In my early artistic period i studied techniques by visiting the art galleries of several well-established Armenian artists and exploring the rich literature on art. Throughout my career i tried to compose in a very broad mixture of styles and mediums but later on being inspired by the tremendous works of impressionist painters - Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Edouard Manet, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Paul Gauguin, Auguste Renoir, Paul Cezanne etc. - i was enchanted by this style. Indeed, the acquaintance with the exhibitions of worldwide famed museums (e. g. Orsay, Louvre, Tretyakov Gallery, Van Gogh Museum etc.) contributed to the formation of my unique way of thinking, too. Mostly now i use oil on canvas, working by palette knife. I think that colors of oil is more natural and rich for me. It helps me to bring an extensive mastery of color theory, innate sense of rhythm and compositional elements to my paintings. The process of creation of my works is a very interesting phenomenon, which in most cases remains inexplicable even for me. Sometimes appearing in a new place and being deeply impressed by the latter, later I usually have the desire to reproduce it on a canvas. In some cases I create images in my mind which don't really exist.
“I believe that each painting contains a massive amount of energy and empowerment. As such, I mainly use bright and vivid colors to convey a sense of immediacy, harmony and optimism to people”.
My artworks can be found in numerous private art collections throughout the U.S., Canada, United Kingdom, Mexico, Austria, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Bulgaria, France, Russia, Australia, Bahrain, China, Taiwan and other corners of the world. I have been invited and took part in workshops KKV in Sweden and also i have an official certificate from famous Luxembourg art prize. My works have been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Armenia, Europe and USA.
