Initially trained in wrought iron work, bronze foundry, ornamental wood carving and history of styles, I then joined Lyon’s Superior School of Applied Arts to study environment design and history of art. Visual art has become my main practice since I left France in 2008.
Cambe's installations and paintings present conflicting linkages, featuring hybrid elements where different shapes, materials and substances mingle and inherently conflict.
Using anachronistic processes, the artist stages vernacular images, opposing the quest for the unique vs standardization, dematerialization vs handprinted.
In a new narcissistic cosmology, crossing aesthetics, Cambe installs dissonant relationships, seeking through the images of yesterday, the meaning of those of today.
After living in Europe, South America, and Canada, he has been living and working in Bangkok, Thailand, since 2019.
