This was an out of the blue request from a customer of my day job. I do concrete, I was asked if I could draw a flower to memorialize the couples daughter, Dorissa, that had passed. I sat with the Mother, Barbra, who is in her 80s and wheelchair bound, and used a screwdriver to etch this into the wet cement. Every line was approved by her. This is[...]
This was an out of the blue request from a customer of my day job. I do concrete, I was asked if I could draw a flower to memorialize the couples daughter, Dorissa, that had passed. I sat with the Mother, Barbra, who is in her 80s and wheelchair bound, and used a screwdriver to etch this into the wet cement. Every line was approved by her. This is her drawing done by my hand. I could feel the weight of the task and it’s importance the entire time. I have never felt so honored. After it cured I came back and painted it in a couple of sessions. It is and will always be my greatest accomplishment. I am so proud to have been able to help in keeping the spirit of their daughter alive and true to form.

I always have at least 10 projects going at once. I like to work quickly so as not to over do or under do things. Fine details are not my style. I like bold and bright. I like the concept not the small intricacies. I am still exploring my abilities and just paint and draw what I like on that day.
