I've enjoyed drawing or painting as far back as I can remember. Unfortunately, I turned down my father's desire for me to pursue an education in art and instead, enlisted in the Marine Corps. I served a few years in the combat illustration field where I believe the artist in me was born. Ever since then, I continually seek to learn and absorb more and more in the wonderful world of art.

My chief aim in creating a piece is, first and foremost, self serving. I want to create something that speaks to me and is a reflection of my innermost feelings. Hopefully, those who view my work will take with them a little something of what I attempted to convey. I usually paint or draw whatever inspires me. I don’t limit myself or specialize in any one particular theme or subject matter; however, I do prefer creating figurative work more than anything else with landscape being my second choice. Incorporating both in the same scene is very intriguing to me. No matter what I depict, time and place or “atmosphere” is the element I wish to evoke.

When painting, I prefer oil on canvas or board with alkyd being utilized at times. I will draw in graphite, charcoal, conte or even colored pencil.

Rembrandt and Vermeer are just a couple of the masters that I derive great inspiration from. I hope to learn more and focus my efforts following the techniques of classical realism as time goes by.
