Studied in Sydney at Julian Ashton Academy and College of Fine Arts and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1998. Have exhibited painting and short films in Sydney, Brisbane, London and Barcelona.
I am always inspired to paint everyday themes such as interiors, landscapes and portraits as an anchor to reality. I have also explored themes of the constant urge to travel, wanderlust and be ‘somewhere else’ which mirrors my restlessness. This theme features in a number of paintings from 2000s during my time living in London where I exhibited a large work titled, ‘Somewhere Else’ which features a couple on a train switched off to the world around them and tuned into their Walkman.
Architecture and the domestication of space/nature via urban sprawl has also featured in works such as ‘Scape’ and Architecture’ where I was interested in Korean buildings and design and the obsession for real estate.
More recently, I am exploring Greek and Roman antiquity after a recent trip to Europe and the Mediterranean where I am adapting some of this imagery into paintings that delve into more personal psychological themes.
