Sobre el autor
Maga Padilla was born in Mexico City in1978 where she lived until 1986. Her first steps in art began in Cancun, Mexico, the place where she had the first contact with the mayan prehispanic world who influenced her actual work in plastic art.
In 1993 she took the art as a living way of life with the first teacher Raúl Barceló, painting and drawing. In 1997 she started formal classes in the ENPEG “La Esmeralda”, in the National Center of Arts in Mexico City. In 2002 she arrived to San Miguel de Allende, to learn different techniques like jewelry, bronze, etc.
The research about the mesoamerican cultures is include in each work, each different materials like ceramic, bronze, stone and each sculptures, graphics and paints.
The esthetic of her art work is figurative (in this period) and most of the time she represented the re-interpretation of the antique prehispanic forms.
She had teachers like Maestro Rolando Arjona Amabilis in drawing and composition, Francisco Quezada in the fundaments of sculpture, Pawel Anaszkiewicz in metal sculpture, Luc Flores in installation and sculpture, Ana Lilia Maciel in theory and conceptualization of art, Ernesto de la Peña Folch graphic with metal, Oscar Aguirre in conceptualization of the space, etc.
Her participation in different collective exhibitions in Mexico have been done in Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Cancun, Playa del Carmen and San Miguel de Allende. The last solo shows were in IPN Casco de Santo Tomas in Mexico City and in the Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramírez “El Nigromante” of Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende.
These exhibitions give her the possibility to show her work in the Small Stone Exhibition in Plaza Gallery in Tokyo, then she wan an honorific mention in the contest “Small Art Exhibition” the 10th by Suzuhiro Kamaboko in Japan. And now she have a new invitation to present her work in May 2010 in Tokyo.
As well she was teaching Sculpture of Visual Arts in “Instituto Allende” in San Miguel affiliated to the University of Guanajuato.
In this days she is making Jewelry in her own studio in Cancun.
