Nacido en Shanghai en 1969, la carrera artística de Zhang Chunlei comenzó a una edad temprana cuando fue aprendiz del renombrado pintor chino, el maestro Jiang Fengbai. En 1992, se graduó de la Escuela de Artes de la Universidad de Suzhou con un Certificado Profesional en diseño de decoración. Continuó su formación artística en Japón en 1995. En 2003, Zhang obtuvo su MBA de la Universidad de Australia Meridional. Actualmente vive y trabaja en Singapur y su práctica artística se extiende entre Singapur y Shanghai, China.
Influenciado por la Filosofía Lao Zhuang, que aboga por la belleza y el equilibrio artísticos, la técnica de pintura de Zhang consiste en crear una serie de puntos, líneas y planos estrechamente entrelazados, tejiendo una formación intencionada con colores alternos. Este concepto de fusión de elementos figurativos y abstractos da como resultado una impresionante obra de arte.
