What inspired you to create art and become an artist? (event, feeling, experience...)
Before I went to elementary school, I didn't have much interest in painting. However, when I went to school for my first painting assignment: it was a very simple picture: half of the sun on the horizon, with radiating light on it. I painted it very carelessly. When I got home, my mother helped me revise it. , and tell me how to beautify it. Because my mother is an art teacher, when I saw my mother’s painting of the shining sun that had just risen, it was so beautiful, which immediately aroused my interest and desire to paint. From then on, every piece of my homework was Taking it seriously, I am also the best among my classmates. When I was growing up, many of my mother's works were my learning goals. Take every assignment seriously and strive to express your imagination and wishes in your works.
What is your artistic background and what techniques and themes have you experimented with so far?
I have undergone rigorous basic study and training since I was a child. When I was a teenager, I drew nearly a hundred sketches of plaster statues. My method was to first spend dozens of hours on in-depth study and characterization, and then, divorced from the actual objects, I drew silently from memory. Practice the ability to grasp the overall situation. Graduated from the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts in 1989, majoring in graphic design. I have been painting billboards in a movie theater for 2 years, worked as a graphic designer for more than ten years, and served as the director of the Beijing Art and Design Museum for five years.
I have drawn many long-term sketches and conducted in-depth research and expression on three-dimensional space, object structure and texture. He also painted many abstract expressionist works, using colors and shapes to express inner emotions and creativity. The abstract elements in the picture are arranged in different rhythms and rhymes, creating a dynamic and passionate feeling. Immigrated to the United States in 2000. I have been passionate about art for many years and have tried many different styles and created works in many genres from abstract expressionism and realism to neo-surrealism. In 2012, I served as a consultant for ACOPAL (American Chinese Painting Artists Alliance), organizing Organized the exhibition "Contemporary American Realism" in Beijing, China. I have also published a dozen collections.
What are three aspects that make your work different from other artists?
Three ways in which I am different from other artists are:
1: No need to base, just draw directly. Whether small or large, realistic or abstract, I always paint directly on the canvas. At the beginning, the painting does not pursue imagery or detail. As the painting progresses, it is constantly revised, and finally a satisfactory result is achieved. 2: I can draw both realistic and abstract works. Most of my abstract works are completed in one stroke.
3: Most of my works are live broadcasts, and people around the world can watch them in real time. (https://www.youtube.com/yuehuahe)
Where does your inspiration come from?
My creative inspiration comes mostly from music. Painting can use lines, colors, relationships and other elements to show rhythm, changes in intensity, ups and downs, changes in speed, or the shape of music. Melodies express emotions and create images, showing a power that reaches directly to the senses and soul, harmonizing with the inner psychological rhythm, and ultimately achieving direct spiritual communication.
What is your artistic approach? What vision, feeling or feeling do you want to evoke in your audience?
My realistic works are to train my ability to observe, understand, and directly depict the natural world. From realistic realism works to complete abstraction, I sublimate from it, and then express it in a subjective way through shapes and colors, rather than directly depicting nature. World of abstract art. The consistent unifying factor in my art is my fascination with sexuality as a form of expression. There I can represent the world with actual colors and shading.
Discovering the freedom of abstraction is both challenging and exciting. Creation has always been a doorway to a larger, more colorful world with no limits except the possibilities offered by imagination. We will recognize a strong connection to Abstract Expressionism, an expressive art that freed itself from images. Use subjective arts such as symmetry, balance, rhythm, and change to organize and arrange the form and content of works. Its main research is to stimulate emotions in the audience.
I believe abstract art is the purest form of expression, not bound by any rules or limitations. I can use colors, shapes, and lines to express my feelings and ideas without having to follow realistic logic or proportions. I hope that my work will resonate with the audience and allow them to find their own stories and emotions in my paintings. I believe art is a form of communication and a bridge between souls.
What is the process of creating your works? Spontaneous or after a long preparation process (technical, artistic canon or other inspiration)?
The creative process of my work is spontaneous. Impromptu action lines, reincarnations, positions, thicknesses, and textures can form countless possibilities, playing the role of segmentation and aggregation in the composition at the same time.
Do you use specific work techniques? If so, can you explain it?
I used large areas of background color blocks and moving lines to express his spatial structure and visual effects. The color blocks are usually flat solid colors, while his lines are of different colors and directions, creating a strong contrast and tension.
Is there anything innovative about your work? Can you tell us which ones?
I created a unique painting style, that is, adding moving lines to large areas of color, dividing and converging the picture, forming a strong spatial structure and visual effect.
Do you have a favorite form or medium? If yes, why?
I paint realistic works using oil paint. I paint abstract pieces using acrylic paints. This pigment offers vibrant color and fast drying, making it suitable for large formats and fluid styles.
Where are your works produced? At home, a shared workshop or your own workshop? How do you organize your creative work in this space?
I have a separate studio at home, and the four walls are covered with my works. However, there are too few walls and many works cannot be hung.
Does your job take you to travel to meet new collectors, attend trade fairs or exhibitions? If so, what did it bring to you?
Because I am very busy and rarely go out, if there is an opportunity to participate in trade fairs or exhibitions, I would still like to participate.
How do you envision your work and your future career as an artist?
As an art creator, I have many dreams and expectations. I hope that my works will be valuable and meaningful, and be recognized and supported by society. Whether it can express thoughts and emotions, and whether it can resonate and communicate with the audience. I have to stick to my creative philosophy and style. Your work is you. The most important thing is that you have to believe in yourself, your work, your career development, and your artistic dreams.
What was the theme, style or technique of your most recent artistic endeavor?
I just finished painting a work by John Harvard. It's a realistic style.
