What inspired you to create art and become an artist? (events, feelings, experience...)
Since childhood, I have loved to create something new with my own hands, tactile sensations prompted me to constantly work with various materials.
What is your artistic background, techniques and subjects you have experimented with so far?
I worked in a classical academic approach to painting, and devoted a lot of time to impressionism and expressionism. I worked with applied things in wood and the development of furniture design, and found my own approach in the formation of structural and polychrome reliefs.
What 3 aspects set you apart from other artists that make your work unique
Polychromy in wood, a combination of tradition and modernity, the variability of compositional solutions, constant form-making experiments and a critical attitude to one's creativity.
Where does your inspiration come from?
Inspiration comes for sure during the creation process itself, sometimes it can be an extremely painstaking process, and sometimes it is an extremely easy job with lots of creative experiments.
What is your artistic approach? What visions, sensations or feelings do you want to evoke in the viewer?
The main goal is to capture the viewer's attention and engage in an active dialogue with him as a direct participant in the project.
What is the process of creating your works? Spontaneous or with a long preparatory process (technical, classically inspired or otherwise)?
Taking into account all the technical aspects of the creative process itself, the preparation is long and more technical. The process of creation is probably more important to me personally than the final result.
Do you use a certain work technique? If so, can you explain it?
I use my own author's technique, combining simple wooden elements based on geometric shapes in synthesis with color.
Are there innovative aspects in your work? Can you tell us which ones?
Among the innovative aspects of my work, I can single out the use of ultraviolet printing and the use of 3D modeling and 3D printing technologies.
Do you have a favorite format or medium? If so , why?
Most of my works are a square measuring 100x100 cm, which I have been using since the very beginning of my creative activity. It seems to me that the magic of this format has an inexhaustible ideological source.
Where do you produce your works? At home, in a joint workshop or on your own? And how do you organize your creative work in this space?
I work on the works in a workshop that has the necessary tools and space for comfortable work with wood.
Does your job require you to travel to meet new collectors, to fairs or exhibitions? If so, what does it get you?
Being an artist in today's world requires many skills and abilities. Communication with collectors and gallerists is an integral part of the overall development as an individual. Visiting exhibitions and fairs provides invaluable experience in understanding the market itself and the mood among the professional community.
How do you imagine the evolution of your work and your career as an artist in the future?
I plan to expand my own creativity and go into urban simple cities. There is also a desire to create your own design studio and develop a design direction.
What is the theme, style, or technique of your latest artwork?
I am currently working on the Waves series, in which I use a combination of UV flatbed printing and polychrome volumetric elements.
Can you tell us about your most important exhibition experience?
I gained the most important exhibition experience in 2021 at one of the largest international exhibitions of contemporary art "Nord Art", which is held annually in Büdelsdorf, Germany. Ukraine was chosen as the central theme and I, together with a group of artists, presented my seemingly large works, which at the exhibition itself seemed like a small copy.
If you could create a famous work in the history of art, which would you choose? And why ?
I don't know if I would have been able to create a work of my own that would have gained world fame, the more I work, the more experience I gain, the more I feel the imperfection of this or that work.
If you could invite one famous artist (living or dead) to dinner, who would it be? How would you advise him to spend the evening?
Most likely it would be Pablo Picasso. The scale of his creativity is impressive. I would advise him to be himself, then I could observe him, his behavior, facial expressions, manner of communication. Own analysis would reveal much more and more necessary information about Picasso than a direct dialogue.
