Like the rest of Ukraine, Ukrainian artists have been impacted by the war. Artmajeur here gives them the opportunity to talk about their daily lives. Today, discover the testimony of the artist Volodymyr Natalushko from Chernihiv (Ukraine).

Volodymyr Natalushko

Chernihiv, Ukraine

I am a Ukrainian artist who lives, works and teaches at an art school in Ukraine. And even when the war with Russia broke out, I continued to live in my hometown of Chernihiv. After the shelling of the city, I had to stop working for a while to help all our possible soldiers. In fact, Chernihiv suffered greatly from Russian aggression, but now here, it is more or less safe.

After a short forced break from painting, I resumed working in my studio and on the streets of my hometown.

Of course, the war completely changed my life and the lives of my family, but I still want to broadcast the positive through my paintings, especially during the terrible times of war. However, I can't ignore the whole situation, so I want to depict on canvas the history, the history of the unbreakable city of Chernihiv.

I try to sell my artwork all over the world. Therefore, it is paramount for me to work with platforms like Artmajeur, which infinitely help to spread Ukrainian art abroad and show all the beauty and excellence of the world.

Every time foreigners buy my paintings, I feel incredible joy, because I understand that a part of talented Ukraine somewhere far away interests other connoisseurs to look into the Ukrainian art world. I am grateful to everyone who supports the art and artists of Ukraine, especially in such a difficult time for us. You are all helping us in approaching victory in this terrible war.

I sincerely thank the whole Artmajeur team for actively promoting Ukrainian artists!
