Like the rest of Ukraine, Ukrainian artists have been impacted by the war. Artmajeur here gives them the opportunity to talk about their daily lives. Today, discover the testimony of the artist Serhii Brylov from Kyiv, Ukraine

Serhii Brylov

Kyiv, Ukraine

I haven't been anyplace else in the world ever since I settled down in Kyiv, Ukraine, on February 24, 2022. A Russian military base was located 15 kilometers away from where I reside prior to April 1.

In the vicinity of Kyiv, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were victorious over their Russian counterparts. Therefore, the predicament has become much more dire. At this point, the only activity taking place is shelling by the city of Kyiv and three air alarms each day. There is nowhere in Ukraine that is safe to be since rockets are being launched at homes all around the country. I've been unemployed for the past two months, but I've recently started working in a sculpture studio.

Since there is no art market in Ukraine, the situation is extremely precarious. It is difficult to sell the work, particularly considering the year is now 2014. Many international online resources that are available to artists in other countries are inaccessible to those working in Ukraine.

I'd want to express my gratitude for allowing me to sell sculptures through your website. The sculpture is difficult to mail, and it takes between thirty and forty days to reach via Ukrposhta. I am appreciative of your assistance.
