“There is one fundamental thing in my painting: the sun! I cannot paint on days without sun ”. The Portuguese Carla Sa Fernandes affirms here her obvious taste for light, colors, warm and sunny. But the precision also shows an approach to art based on sensitivity: “I have always created, but at the beginning painting served as an outlet: I painted as never before in 2000, the year of the death of my mother, and the following years. It made me forget his absence ”.
At the time, his painting was obviously not as cheerful as it is today. It will take time for her to find her way: for about ten years, she works full-time as a chemical engineer and artist for the remainder of the time. “But when my son was born in 2008, I took the plunge: I resigned to devote myself to painting”.
The artist then follows different trainings and gradually finds his way. Today, she creates large abstract works on canvas, most of the time very colorful and spontaneous, with vigorous brushstrokes and drips that do not hide: “I am quite unable to give you the source. All I want is for people to be affected, no matter what they know why ”.
