The mischievous Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF has caused yet another social media frenzy, this time with a pair of sleek, red rubber boots that look like they belong in Astro Boy's closet. The "Big Red Boots" are set to come out on February 16, just in time for New York Fashion Week. They have already been talked about a lot on TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram. The shell is made of TPU, which makes the boots soft but strong, like an iPhone case. When the boots come out, they will cost $350 a pair. Like most things by the collective, they are likely to sell quickly.

MSCHF, whose name sounds like "mischief," made "Jesus Shoes" in 2019. These were modified Nike Air Max 97s with water from the River Jordan in Israel that had been blessed by a priest in Brooklyn and added to the sole. A gold crucifix was tied to the shoelaces. Each show cost $1,425 and all 24 pairs were sold in less than a minute. Even though MSCHF's newest shoes haven't come out yet, a pair of Big Red Boots sells for more than $1,700 on StockX, a marketplace for used luxury and streetwear. MSCHF's funny sneakers often get the most attention on the internet, but the group sees itself as an artistic practice, even though it is rarely called that.
