TIPS AND TRICKS

TIPS N ° 5 - Make money with reproductions of your works on Artmajeur

1. It is now essential and indispensable for artists.

Many European artists are not interested in selling reproductions of their works. They prefer to sell originals, they think reproductions compete with them. Yet this is a misconception! It is enough to see the North American craze (USA, Canada, Quebec) for reproductions of works of art, to understand that they do not compete with the sale of original works. It has become a significant additional income for artists. In the USA, many artists, photographers and even art galleries do not hesitate to sell reproductions of the works they offer to collectors. They thus reach another clientele who do not necessarily have the means to afford an original work. Moreover, instead of competing with original works, they enhance them by promoting them and disseminating the artist's work to as many people as possible. In addition, without any additional work, the artist regularly receives royalties.

We find on the market, reproductions of all the greatest known artists, it would be a shame if we could not afford yours.

Currently 40% of sales of reproductions on Artmajeur are made on the North American continent with customers accustomed to this type of service. It would be a shame not to enjoy.

2. How does it work?

It's very simple. You have to enter high definition images in your account (they will always appear on the screen in low definition. They cannot be stolen from you!). You will find in the following paragraph the dimensions of the reproductions and the pixel dimension of the images that you must save. If you record a small format, in low definition, you will offer for sale, only postcards.

You must then set the amount of your royalties. By default an amount is already recorded, but you can increase or decrease it. There you have it, that's all you have to do!

How does the system work?

A customer orders a poster of one of your works. He pays on Artmajeur and Artmajeur takes care of everything! Printing, shipping and even after sales service. You, you receive 100% of the royalties which will be transferred to your account. It really is very simple. No need to remove images of works sold. They continue to bring in money.

3. How do I prepare my images for printing?

First of all, the images must be perfectly framed and centered. If you present a painting with its frame and part of the wall behind the frame, the reproduction will be printed as well. If this is the case for some of your images, you have in the image editor, a simple tool to crop images on Artmajeur. If there is an outline on your image, consider removing it as well, as it will also be printed.

My Account> Images> Image Editor> Crop

Your images must have a good resolution and be in high definition (300dpi)

Depending on the dimensions of the reproductions you want to sell, the images must have the following dimensions:

For an A6 format (100x150mm) the image size must be at least 394x591 pixels

For an A5 format (150x210mm) the image size must be at least 591x827 pixels

For an A4 format (210x297mm) the size of the image must be at least 827x1169 pixels

For an A3 format (297x420mm) the image size must be at least 1169x1654 pixels

For an A2 format (420x594mm) the image size must be at least 1654x2339 pixels

For an A1 format (594x841mm) the image size must be at least 2339x3311 pixels

For an A0 format (841x1189mm) the image size must be at least 3311x4681 pixels

All this is very important because the files of your images are not modified by the printer. They are printed as is without any modification.

4. What can you sell?

Artmajeur offers different printing media:

  • The classic poster on paper up to 850x1200 format

  • Postcards

  • Printing on aluminum support up to 850x1200 format

  • Canvas printing up to 850x1200 format

Each support is available in 7 different formats that adapt to the exact dimensions of your works.

5. Use mailing and social networks to inform your collectors and sell on the Facebook store.

Use the mailing! Very easy to use, it allows you to target your prospects and friends, and to send them regularly a newsletter or information about you. To optimize the effectiveness of the mailing, you can target your mails by destination languages. That is to say send an email in French to your French collectors and an email in English to English collectors (this is valid for the 12 languages used on Artmajeur).

To create a mailing list:

My account> Mailings> Select the destination language (Ex: French for French readers)> Enter the email addresses of your contacts.

To send a mailing:

Menu> Mailings> Send mailing> select language> Write message and send.

To communicate, it is also essential to regularly inform all the people who follow you on social networks. It is also advisable to activate your art store on Facebook (available for Platinum subscribers). Indeed, in addition to selling your original works directly on your Facebook account, you can also directly sell reproductions of your works to your acquaintances. We couldn't ask for better targeting!

Here again Artmajeur takes care of all the logistics, you don't have to do anything and you get 100% of the royalties you have set!
