What are the impacts on art sales?
What we know so far : Original works, as well as photographs and prints, are not currently affected by the new tariff measures, and are therefore still not subject to customs duties (2025 HTS Revision 8- XXI 97 - 1).
These rules are subject to change, particularly with countermeasures.
The tariff framework is constantly evolving and may undergo significant adjustments, particularly in response to countermeasures adopted by other countries. As of April 9, 2025, imports from China are now subject to a 125% tariff. However, on that date, the United States imposed a 90-day moratorium, limiting this tax to a maximum of 10% for countries that have entered into bilateral discussions to negotiate a new tariff.
“We take the impact of these new pricing measures very seriously, which is why our team is monitoring their developments and is committed to providing you with clear and up-to-date information to enable you to anticipate and adapt your business practices.” Samuel Charmetant, founder of ArtMajeur
