Tokyo Gendai, a prominent art fair, has announced that its 2025 edition will shift from July to September. The event will be held at the Pacifico Yokohama convention center from September 12 to 14, with a VIP preview on September 11. Co-founder Magnus Renfew explained that the change addresses the extreme summer heat in Tokyo, which has been a barrier to attracting more visitors from America and Europe. The new fall dates promise a more comfortable climate for attendees and exhibitors. The announcement was made via a VIP email on July 10, emphasizing the benefits of the cooler season. This year’s fair, which overlapped with Monaco Art Week, saw notable collectors and successful sales for galleries like Pace Gallery and BLUM. Tokyo Gendai, part of the Art Assembly’s group of fairs in the Asia Pacific region, received support from various Japanese agencies and the City of Yokohama. The 2025 edition aims to continue its tradition of showcasing exceptional galleries and artists, fostering artistic and intellectual exchange, and promoting cross-cultural discovery.
