The third edition of Art Basel Paris, scheduled for October 18-20, 2024, is undergoing significant changes, including a rebranding and a new venue. Previously known as Paris+ par Art Basel, the event is now simply Art Basel Paris, aligning with the brand’s other major fairs in Basel, Miami Beach, and Hong Kong. This change aims to clarify its identity and better resonate with its audience.
Director Clément Delépine, who has led the fair since its launch in 2022, noted that the previous name was often misunderstood. The rebranding, supported by France’s culture minister, Rachida Dati, and driven by exhibitor feedback, enhances the fair's alignment with the Art Basel brand, facilitating partnerships with major creative brands in Paris.
The fair will move from the temporary Grand Palais Éphémère to the historic Grand Palais, which has been renovated since 2020. This relocation will allow for 40 additional exhibitors, bringing the total to 194 galleries. New participants include Casey Kaplan from New York, Standard from Oslo, and Athr from Saudi Arabia. Exhibition stands will also increase in size, with the maximum floorspace expanding from 66 to 77 square meters.
The expanded edition introduces a new section, Premise, featuring nine galleries with unique presentations, including pre-1900 art. Notably, Nara Roesler will present works by late Brazilian artists Tomie Ohtake and Chico Tabibuia. Additionally, the Émergence section for younger galleries will see almost all new exhibitors, with five galleries moving to the main fair.
