In this stunning piece, a sitting nude sits on a chair, her body, face and hairstyle remind us of female sitters of Henri Matisse. At the focal point of the composition, a whimsical mirror seen, held delicately in the figure's hand, making us think about the story behind a familiar fairy tale.

About the artist: Elena Garshina is a professionally trained artist from Moscow. She obtained her degree from Moscow Textile University's Applied Arts Department, and further pursued her studies in Academic Drawing and Oil Painting at the Stroganov Academy of Arts and Industrial Design. Additionally, she gained extensive experience as a sculptor at the Surikov Academy of Fine Arts in Moscow.

As a Member of the Society of Artists of Russia, Elena Garshina has showcased her works in various exhibitions throughout Russia and Europe, including Germany, Italy, Belgium, and France. Her exceptional talent has earned her recognition, evident through the inclusion of her pieces in museums as well as private collections in Russia and beyond.

This painting was exhibited in 2013 at the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Dresden organised by Dresden Porzellan & 'Dresden' Art Gallery , Dresden Porzellan & 'Dresden' Art Gallery in Dresden, Germany

Elena Garshina is a professionally trained artist from Moscow. She obtained her degree from Moscow Textile University's Applied Arts Department, and further pursued her studies in Academic Drawing and Oil Painting at the Stroganov Academy of Arts and Industrial Design. Additionally, she gained extensive experience as a sculptor at the Surikov Academy of Fine Arts in Moscow. 

Her work is versatile, encompassing landscapes, still lifes, portraits, and nudes. Fascinated by the human form, she has created series featuring nudes, gymnasts, and ballet dancers. She cites Russian-Armenian painter and sculptor Nikolay Nikogosyan as her most significant influence. Nikogosyan, in turn, was inspired by early 20th-century masters such as Matisse and other Fauvist artists.   

As a Member of the Society of Artists of Russia, Elena Garshina has showcased her works in various exhibitions throughout Russia and Europe, including Germany, Italy, Belgium, and France. Her exceptional talent has earned her recognition, evident through the inclusion of her pieces in museums as well as private collections in Russia and beyond.
