Born in 1993 in Ghana, Edward Afadzi Larbi is a contemporary artist whose practice is deeply rooted in the cultural experiences and traditions of their upbringing. Drawing inspiration from the everyday objects and materials of their environment, Afadzi creates powerful artworks that explore themes of unity, togetherness, and connection, particularly within the context of the African diaspora.
Afadzi’s signature medium is the local broom, a humble yet significant tool that is woven into the fabric of daily life in Ghana. Through this material, Afadzi crafts intricate, abstracted figures on canvas, creating a dynamic dialogue between form, culture, and identity.
