Dmitrii Filimonov

Dmitrii Filimonov was born in a small village in the Ulyanovsk region and from the age of five faced difficult circumstances: the death of his parents and the need to seek support outside the traditional family. After their death, he was raised by his older sister.

At the age of 14, Dmitrii begins an independent life and moves to Ulyanovsk, Russia where he enrolls in the College of Culture and Art, studying landscape design. From 2016 to 2022 he studied at the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting at the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Fine Arts (Moscow).

In 2022 he moves to Tbilisi, Georgia where he creates his first series of ceramic sculptures.

Since September 2024 Dmitrii lives and works in Paris.

All of Dmitri's work is based on the processing and reflection of traumatic experiences in childhood. All the unspoken pain found its embodiment in the images of clowns and anthropomorphic characters. For him, this is a way to escape from the cruel and chaotic reality into the world of his own fantasies, where there are no rules invented by society and no social stigma.
