D.K. Boljat

Born in Portland, Oregon, Darla Kay Boljat grew up in the Portland suburb of Tigard and currently calls Sherwood, Oregon home. There she enjoys creating landscapes in her art studio. Darla says "I love Sherwood and all of Oregon’s beautiful landscapes. I think I could paint scenery here in Oregon for the rest of my life and still never finish painting all the wonderful sites Oregon has to offer."

Life was not always easy, but Darla has always had the drive to overcome whatever obstacles life brought her way. Darla withstood the struggles of being a single mom for the first 12 years of her son’s life and didn’t let any negative circumstances get her down. Rather than bemoaning the situation, she scraped up the necessary resources to purchase her own home in 1993. Building on her investment, she worked alone and with her family to develop life skills to succeed. Since then she is accomplished in gardening, plumbing, carpentry, woodworking and flooring.

Not one to turn down a challenge, Darla has completely remodeled entire rooms in her home. She now has her own arsenal of tools, so she is prepared for any upcoming repair. One summer Darla rebuilt the front deck on her house. The next summer she built a playhouse following instructions from a book she checked out at the library. Darla is the ultimate “do-it-yourselfer.” No project is too big.

Darla feels truly blessed by God, and thankful to have learned her new love of painting while still young enough to pursue it. Darla enjoyed the photography class she took in college, and now carries her camera with her ready to shoot the reference material for upcoming masterpieces. Darla says "Each painting is a challenge that I can't wait to begin".
