Выходит, что я с презрительной небрежностью веду себя с теми, кого считаю слабыми и с робкой боязливостью с сильными? Остатки, остатки; уже жалею слабых и на сильных смотрю с той же небрежностью и усмешкой... Небрежно жалею, усмехаюсь робко!.. Самый сильный комнатный для меня слаб и самый слабый вольный для меня силен... Силу надо уважать, если даже и ты силен, а слабость презирать, если и сам слаб. Жалею не слабых, а негордых и пострадавших...

Конечно, с такой волей в наше время мало кто в силах справиться, все вольные хотя бы наполовину соблазнились,  ослабли. А с другой стороны, и некоторые комнатные твари понемногу привыкли к воле, завели сад вокруг дома, работают в нем допоздна, совершают прогулки далекие, вылазки...  (И про пиратов с любопытством читают... А дети примеряют повязки и для пробы немного уже ранят и колошматят друг друга...)

Вошел, в руках мышеловка и сыр - ну, как не усмехнуться, глядя на такого воина?! Но он шоколад достает, виноград, во всех углах ловушки побольше расставил, и я начинаю беспокоиться, слегка прижимаясь к стене. «Сейчас прольется чья-то кровь…»

Он вошел, держа в руках мышеловку и сыр - ну как пирату не ухмыльнуться такому воину?! Но он достает шоколад, виноград, расставляет по всем углам ловушки побольше, и мой одноглазый начинает волноваться, слегка прижимаясь к стене. "Сейчас прольется чья-то кровь..."

Слабый обозлился и восстал, наконец: «это вам не ягнят резать, приговаривая, что на то они и родились! Если сильный вошел в комнаты, то и он уже слаб, а если я вышел на волю, то тоже силен!»
Или вот еще слабый буянит как сильный: он уверенно себя чувствует в комнатах и пытается забыть, что на самом-то деле слабый. «Не выйду на волю, лучше здесь буду сильным» - все слабые рукоплещут своими ладошками, все сильные ковыряют в зубах, кто-то из них засмеялся, обращаясь к соседу, вступая с ним в сговор…

  Or the weak one rages like a strong one: he feels confident in the room and tries to forget that he is actually weak.  “I won’t go free, I’d rather be strong here” - all the weak clap their hands, all the strong pick their teeth, one of them laughed, turning to a neighbor, entering into a conspiracy with him...

Слабый обозлился и восстал, наконец: «это вам не ягнят резать, приговаривая, что на то они и родились! Если сильный одноглазый вошел в комнаты, то и он уже слаб, а если я вышел на волю, то тоже силен!» (ох, и хрупка ещё его сила - одноглазый, тебе надо поддержать его и помочь... Хотя действительно сильным ему уже, конечно, не стать; силу обязательно надо с детства копить; а все восстания - это лишь сумасшествия...)

Или вот еще слабый буянит как одноглазый и сильный: он уверенно себя чувствует в комнатах и пытается забыть, что на самом-то деле он слабый. «Не выйду на волю, лучше здесь буду сильным» - все слабые рукоплещут своими ладошками, все сильные ковыряют в зубах, кто-то из них засмеялся, обращаясь к соседу, вступая с ним в сговор… (одноглазый заметил, но что может он  сделать, как защитить? Придётся пожертвовать парнем; так подставился, что скорее всего тоже на мясо пойдет, если родня на выкуп не соберёт миллионы...)

(the one-eyed man noticed, but what could he do, how could he defend? I'll have to sacrifice the guy; he's so screwed up he'll probably go to meat too, unless the kinfolk raise millions for ransom...)
