The doctor's words, a chilling breeze,
A shadowed path through ailing trees.
Appointments made, a hurried pace,
A frantic search for saving grace.
Emergency, the sirens wail,
A biopsy's truth, behind the veil.
The surgeon's hand, a steel command,
They cut me open, across the land
Of skin and muscle, deep inside,
And took the darkness where it hide.
Now stitches bind, a painful art,
Upon my thigh, a wounded heart.
Cancer or not, the question looms,
A heavy silence fills the rooms.
The results wait, a coming storm,
To break the peace, and change the form
Of everything I thought I knew,
A future fractured, stark and new.
I’m not ready, I cannot go,
Life's vibrant tapestry I want to know.
To paint the canvas, sing the song,
Where I belong, where I am strong.
I am here to create, to build and dream,
To chase the sun's most golden gleam.
But fear resides, a constant guest,
Within my soul, finds bitter rest.
My family's eyes, a mirrored plea,
Reflecting back the fear in me.
We huddle close, a fragile shield,
Against a fate we cannot yield.
The waiting bleeds, a slow release,
Until the verdict brings us peace...
Or plunges us into deepest night,
And steals away the precious light.
My thigh reminds, with every sting,
That life is fragile, on the wing.
