Immerse yourself in this captivating textured abstract painting, where dark turquoise lines and circular swirls swirl into an intricate, meditative design. The richly textured surface—evoking chalk-like fine lines and soft gradients—guides the eye toward a layered center of concentric circles set against a dark, gentle backdrop.
Delicate, almost whisper-like linework creates an aura of calm energy, while white brush strokes spiral atop the composition, forming a pale blue vortex that seems to float above the deeper hues. The interplay between precise, thin-line patterns and broader acrylic gestures gives this piece both clarity and depth.
Drawing inspiration from artists like Barbara Takenaga, renowned for cosmic, detailed rhythmic abstractions, and palette-knife impasto techniques used in contemporary swirl art , this painting blends fine detail and tactile texture in harmony.
Merging the cosmic elegance of Takenaga’s work with the tactile palette-knife texture seen in contemporary swirl art, this painting invites peaceful contemplation. Its swirling patterns and layered textures evoke natural cycles—ripples in water, galaxies in motion, or the rhythm of breath.
Perfect For:
Lovers of detailed, rhythmic abstract art
Spaces seeking calming, meditative wall pieces
Fans of contemporary textured swirls and gallery-style statement art

BIO
Daria Tokarenko is a contemporary artist born in Siberia, in the Trans-Baikal region, and currently living and working on the Black Sea coast. She creates abstract, minimalist works characterized by soft forms, flowing lines, and tactile, relief textures, often incorporating natural materials.
The vast, untamed landscapes and long winters of her native Trans-Baikal shaped her deep appreciation for minimalism, subtlety, and a restrained palette. Life by the sea taught her to slow down and tune into rhythm — a sensibility reflected in her meditative working process, repetitive motifs, and calm, balanced compositions.
Tokarenko’s visual language resonates with the abstraction of Tadeusz Dominik and the expressive depth of Anselm Kiefer.
She is engaged in scholarly research into the history of ancient jewelry. Additionally, she is preparing to launch a line of artist-designed merchandise.
Tokarenko’s works have been featured in solo and international exhibitions in China, Russia, Egypt, Malaysia.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
I work with acrylics, fabric, potal, texture paste and natural materials to create three-dimensional surfaces that one wants to not only look at but also touch.
Perhaps what inspires me most is the Earth (and other planets). Earth seen from above — rivers, mountains, coastlines. Geography is my secret language, a quiet legacy passed down from my grandmother, who collected world atlases and would spend hours slowly absorbing the contours of distant lands. My library still has my grandmother's favourite world atlas. I once painted a semi-abstract aerial river scene, born purely from imagination. A few months later, I travelled thousands kilometres to attend the exhibition. In my painting, people recognised their winter river, their town - a place I had never been. The work sold — not because it depicted a specific place, but because it resonated as if it had always belonged there. This magical alignment showed me how intuitive vision connects us in ways we can’t explain.
My work reflectes the current trend for texture, sensual perception and intuitive abstraction. They fit seamlessly into contemporary interiors and remain timeless in meaning.
