by the ancient traditions of creating Russian
Dymkovsky clay toys.
In my paintings, I tried to convey
the traditional motifs of patterns and colors,
as well as unchanging rhombuses
using potali. In the painting "On the Water" I wanted
to create a fairy-tale plot, in which there is
not only a Vyatka character, but also the main
character of Russian folk tales - a bear.
Inspiration came from my favorite
illustrations by the artist Yuri Vasnetsov.
According to the plot, every evening a young lady-water
carrier comes to the hole for water. She attracts
the attention of a bear living in the forest,
on the far shore. He often watches her
from behind a tree and listens to how quietly and beautifully she
hums something to herself. And he thinks
he's never seen a more adorable creature.
The young lady is perplexed, - "What kind of stupid bear?! He thinks I don't notice him." One fine moonlit evening, however, he
decides to approach a stranger and give her flowers. This is the end of the narrative. But perhaps
a tender rosehip bush hints at the beginning of a new story.
The painting is made on hardboard using acrylic and texture paste. The rhombuses are made of gold potala. The ends are painted, there are wall mounts.
