The past two years, the years of the coronavirus, have forced us all to remain in our homes, within the familiar, near environment, unable to travel and become exposed to the different events taking place at a distance from ourselves, which inspire artists to create, as is possible in ordinary times. This reality has forced us to look closely at our familiar environment and create connections with our near surroundings.
As an artist engaging in two fields – digital art and sculpture – I created this series by the integration of both fields.
I gathered chairs which belonged to different generations in my family and combined them with the sculptures I create. Each sculpture is a kind of portrait of myself during a certain period of time, reflecting my experience during this time, and the chairs represent the history of my family and the different characters who played a part in it throughout history and created the familial lineage, which is intertwined with the complex history of the country in which I was born and of their ordeals prior to their arrival in Israel as well as after the establishment of the State of Israel. Both were integrated into the landscapes and the scenery characteristic of Israel and personal belongings brought to Israel by members of my family from their homelands.
It is by the use of the sculptures, objects, and landscapes that I link my own biography to the story of the different generations in my family, one which, at times, is not simple and involves pain, loss, and struggle.
There is a fine line separating pastoralism and drama in the works, the contrast between the two being emphasized with great intensity by the joyous, alluring colorfulness and pastoral landscapes against the hidden, dramatic messages of the sculptures and the historical objects. The landscapes may seem surrealistic; however, in actuality, they are telling a true autobiographical story with which many individuals could identify

My digital-art pieces are created by integrating digital-photography taken in the studio or in other environment,  with computer digital editing. The works are composed of many layers of photographs. By employing different techniques in one piece, the details of the photographs which appear in it are endowed with a new meaning and a new reality composed of all the details which were joined together is created.

My digital images are processed, creating a work of art that is completely different from the original photograph images.

My digital-art pieces are surrealistic; surrealism serves well the messages I seek to convey through my works.

In the works, I integrated cultures and traditions, thus creating a world wherein fact and fiction are intertwined. I create a novel, imagined reality, of a setting based in a different, unclear time, which I am attempting to examine. I am enabling the viewer to find enjoyment in classical aesthetics, a hypnotizing array of colours, and an intoxicating pastoral beauty. However, following a meticulous review and a thorough understanding of every detail and gesture, the hidden, harsh revelations are discovered, and a realization is reached, that the scenes serve as an allegory for the state of man, society, and culture as a whole, and for the image of the world we are leaving behind.
