Artiste autodidacte, je prends goût à la sculpture tout à fait par hasard en 1999 alors que j’allais jeter un bout de bois au feu. J’hésite un moment, regarde attentivement l’objet en main et décide finalement de le garder pour le sculpter à l’aide du seul outil que je possédais pour cela, un simple ¨exacto¨.

Ainsi naquit ma passion pour la sculpture qui, depuis, ne cesse de s’intensifier. Au fil du temps, je réalise que la sculpture me permet un voyage intérieur. Par l’intermédiaire de cette forme d’art, ce sont mes pensées, mes désirs et mes sentiments qui se manifestent. Le style de sculpture dans lequel j’évolue est une aventure dans la spontanéité. Sans préméditation, je laisse aller l’action immédiate et découvre au fur et à mesure ce qui se dévoile. C’est ce non-savoir qui stimule mon intérêt et me fait vibrer.

Créer spontanément est exaltant car c’est une forme d’abandon à l’imprévisible. Tout peut survenir et un geste qui peut être interprété comme une erreur devient souvent un tremplin servant à un heureux dénouement, quelque chose d’inattendu suivi du sourire extatique du sculpteur, simple instrument au service de la créativité.

L’interprétation d’une œuvre vient toujours en second lieu, en réaction à l’action créatrice. C’est alors le moment de m’amuser à comprendre l’œuvre achevée et à tenter de lui trouver un nom. C’est la partie la plus difficile. Chaque œuvre contemplée permet à l’observateur de faire des découvertes selon ses propres perceptions. Qui sait, la sculpture lui dévoilera peut-être ses secrets…

Résumé

Self-taught artist since 1999, I was thrilled with the sculpture discovery as I was going to throw a piece of wood in a fire camp. For a moment I hesitated, looked up at the object and finally decided to keep it for carving. At that time, a simple ¨exacto¨ was the only tool I had on hand for carving.

Hence was born my passion for sculpture which never cease to increase. I realise with fascination how carving allows introspection. Through this kind of medium, my thoughts, desires and feelings come out and impregnate wood. The style in which I evolve is an adventure in spontaneity. Without premeditation, I let immediate and free action emerge and discover amazing results. I find inspiration inside the unseen.

Spontaneous creation is exalting, it’s like giving oneself up to unpredictable expression. Anything can happen. A motion interpreted as an error can come out as a springboard to a happy development. Something new and unexpected mysteriously appears to the sculptor’s eyes, leaving him with an ¨extatic¨ smile. The sculptor is merely an instrument in creativity’s world.

Interpreting always occurs afterwards. It is a reaction to creative action. It’s then time to divert myself in trying to understand the ended work and find the appropriate title....
