My work is directly linked to myTurkish origins and culture. I mainly usetextile and ceramic, two mediums that I linktogether, through the circulation of patterns.I also use text to bring the idea of family byincluding my close relatives, my grandmother,my mother and my father in my projects.

When I come back from Turkey, I have thisfeeling of missing something for a few years.I miss the country, its culture and my familyback home. I still don’t know if it’s them whostayed there or me who is staying here. But oneday I want to go back, for a long time, forever.Here, there are objects and images of this culturewith which I identify. When I see prayer rugs,kilims, plates or tiles with floral designs, it takesme back to my memories. So I reproduce theseimages to make them my own. I reconstructthese memories, these sensations, thesesequences of life that I want to continue to live.I use fabric to make soft sculptures and clothing. 

I try to reconcile these two fields in clothingsculpture. I’ve been very impressed by the workof the Japanese artist Rei Kawakubo, founderof the Comme Des Garçons brand, and thedesigner Jeanne Vicériale, who uses her knit andweave technology to create sculptural garments.I also find myself in the work of Stéphanie Baechler,who makes clay sculptures that take up notionsfrom the world of clothing (patterns, folds, body).What inspires me in their artistic approach is thechange in status they bring to the mediums theyuse and their singular conceptions of sculpture.
