hUmaNITY was made using a 3mm thick plywood sheet, primer, oil paint, acrylic paint, beads, clothing rail, G-clamps, gauze and hem weights. On the one side, the pattern grid of different colours and paint types suggests a multiplicity of cultures, genders, religions, ages, races, and ideologies combining into one faceted expression. hUmaNITY was made using a 3mm thick plywood sheet, primer, oil paint, acrylic paint, beads, clothing rail, G-clamps, gauze and hem weights. On the one side, the pattern grid of different colours and paint types suggests a multiplicity of cultures, genders, religions, ages, races, and ideologies combining into one faceted expression. On the other, the surface is perforated with a circle, signifying oneness and wholeness and a perspective that coheres difference into a distilled unity. The portable clothing rail evokes the displacement of humanity through war and persecution and the grey gauze fabric used in wound care suggests a humanity in need of re_pair.
