From the series: “I’m in This World, But I’m Not From This World”
There are times when life pulls you into such agony that you lose sight of your former completeness and the fact that you had a name before the war and the silence.
As both the author and the subject, this work challenges me. A visitor trapped in their own skin, haunted by memories they didn’t choose and engaged in battles they didn’t start, is a portrait of fractured identity.
A history of trauma, survival, and rebirth is charted by the ink-black shadows and gold cracks.
Anyone who has reached their lowest point, made mistakes, or been too scared to rise again can relate to “I Forgot I Had a Name.”
I have been many things: wounded, lost, ashamed. But I am not my past — I am the architect of what comes next. For those who are finding the strength to return to the light, this is a subdued anthem.

There is no rule book on life, or of the world – which is why my work aim to disrupt, yearn and find silent fortitude of memory. My languages are charcoal, graphite, pen and ink, and acrylic. I delve into the unsaid: the broken, the silenced and the forgotten and show the sometimes, purest beauty that exists in the vulnerable and broken.
My artwork sees the soul through the eyes of the viewer. Every mark is a silent revolution that is inscribed in honour of those whose memories remain in the dark, whose stories were lost and remain untold, and whose dignity was diminished – my art is for you. A lighthouse of bravery, resiliency, and hope.
I emphasize identity, memory, and social justice as lived realities because of my own personal past and abuse. After the death of my beloved Mother, I lost my way – how does one continue with life when the source that gave you life, is no more? When it was almost too late, I found my purpose in all the chaos. I established a foundation in memory of my late Mama which I support with my art, in its mission to address the frequently unseen violences that mould humanity in all of its manifestations.
Caelthorne Art is a dialogue between collective memory and personal truth, echoing the sounds, screams, sorrow, and hopelessness that are ignored and goes unseen.
My art should not be for easy interpretation. With abstraction and influences of cubism and surrealism, I investigate monochromatic symbolism and produce abstract scenes and portraits that reveal the sacred and the unvarnished. The edges appeal to me: shattered lines, incomplete ideas, and disjointed metaphors and symbols.
There is dignity, even brilliance, and unadulterated beauty in imperfection. I don't shout with my pieces. They pay attention. They sit with empathy and sadness. They make room for people who feel nothing or feel too much. For the soul that recognizes itself in its silence, each piece is a silent anthem and a beacon of hope between universal, holistic aims, to the viewers subjective conscience and their own forgotten tenderness.
By virtue of benevolence and dedication, art is my witness. My sacrifice. Therefore, I am Art, and Art is me.
