Kipik
I was born and raised in France. I grew up in a family of artists and my grandma put us all to crayons early-on. I attended the "Ecole d'art de Luminy, France, (a fine art program), and George Brown College's Graphic design program, in Toronto, where I graduated with 3 awards and honours and Applied Art magazine award. I attended the City Sculpture School and Studio (C.S.S.S.) where I did life drawing practice with a group of other artists. My work has been shown in a few Galleries.
I then worked with Chinese/Japanese brush technique and tried to find synthesis between my roots and this amazing art form. I love the contrasts between cultures, and try to express that.
My Art is constantly evolving. Though Chinese brush techniques are still a big part of what I do, it is mixed with a new personal approach, very much influenced by Russian folk art and Inuit and Haida art, Klee, and Picasso's potteries and my own personal spiritual growth. A strange mix I guess, but I am on that road and obsessed with it and I think somehow it's right because I have fun.

Of course I am still working in "hiding" on my painting. Who knows what will come out or when? Right now with my new full time job, I find it hard to find time, so production is not high. I will keep you posted!

I use what ever i have and experiment often. My base is fine watercolours: even though I don't use a lot of transparent effects, I love watercolours for it's flexibility adapatability and exceptional depth of colour. I also experiment with amazing dry pigments that my mom gets for me from Roussillon, France ("Ocres et Terres"). which i use with arabic gum. it works great and has a great velevety texture. I also use extensively colour pencils. Beyond that, various kind of inks and gouaches and novelty compounds that works more ... or less! I have experimented with various surfaces, mostly paper and my favorite is Arches' hot press watercolour paper, but I've used 2 different Strathmore's watercolour papers, as well some with a rougher texture that works well on large format. I'm now trying out wood panels: the final effect looks fantastic ( using watercolours and varnish). Since I have moved, I am trying Oil techniques these are at the experimental stage!
... Any question about technique, feel free to ask!
