Alexei was born in the USSR in 1976 and has lived in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, UK. Currently Living and working in Western Pennsylvania USA

Graduated from the Barnaul State Teacher Training University in 2000, MA in Linguistics and Literature.

My subject matter is mainly older male portraits and nudes. Somebody described my work as “non-glamorous”, meaning that my subjects are not “Greek gods” from a magazine cover. People are beautiful just the way they are, and all body types should be celebrated and not shamed for not meeting the unrealistic standards forced by corporate advertising.

I like the use of extreme perspectives, treating body as a piece of architecture, towering above the viewer, showing the beauty of the soul peeking through the flesh of an average man next door, telling their unique story with the marks, scars, wrinkles, and spare tire that are the land marks of their journey. Naked male flesh in general is often underrepresented in art and in our modern culture overall, where even old masterpieces with male nudity get censored as if it is some sort of a taboo.
